French-Australian Preschool
of Canberra
WELCOME
Our vision is to prepare children for life long learning in a bilingual (French-English) context by providing a high quality bilingual educational environment that enables children to be successful learners.
Our mission is to provide a progressive immersion program into French language that addresses each child's holistic development (physical, social, emotional and cognitive) and fosters individuality, confidence and creativity in a stimulating, fun and safe preschool.
Dear families,
I would like to welcome you to our bilingual Preschool, which is a unique and a fantastic opportunity that provides a great life’s philosophy and a big advantage for your child’s future. More than half the people in the world speak at least two languages. We believe that attending a bilingual preschool is the easiest way to become more adaptable in a communicative and moving world and to develop different views, strategies and talents. In a cosmopolitan world, where communication is so important, regardless the differences in our cultures and languages, it is essential to acquire skills that will help us to adapt to the future, to be able to grow and develop language skills. You are very lucky to be able to enrol your child in an international and bilingual preschool in the Canberra community. You must be proud of the choice that you have made. It is an investment you are making in the future that will prepare your children for the world of tomorrow.
In a dynamic and happy environment, surrounded by dedicated and very qualified staff members, the children develop in a bilingual universe, rich in diverse learning opportunities. The preschool places children at the centre of its priorities.
The Preschool is accredited by the “Agence pour l’Enseignement du Français à l’Etranger” (AEFE) that is a part of the French Department of National Education and is also accredited by the NCAC (National Childcare Accreditation Council) of Australia. It means that our establishment respects the official French Curriculum and harmonises it with the Australian guidelines and requirements set out by ACT Licensing Authorities and NCAC. The Preschool has a license to enrol 132 children from 3 to 5 years old. Parents who choose the preschool make the choice of a progressive immersion into the French culture and language.
The French-Australian Preschool is a not-for-profit organisation managed by a Director on behalf of a Board. It is a symbol of successful cooperation between French and Australian nationals. For 36 years, it has required a tremendous effort and inspired imagination to make it become such a great preschool.
I take this opportunity to thank all staff members who contribute, by their qualifications, skills and their devotion to child care and education, to the success and the reputation of our Preschool, the Preschool Board for its help and to all parents who put their trust in us and show us every day their commitment.
